VNI Collaborates with the NHMRC on Project Funding

November 02, 2009

The VNI is pleased to announce that it will be collaborating with the NHMRC in Neurotrauma project funding.

Commencing with the 2009 NHMRC Project Funding Round, neurotrauma research applications that were not successful in receiving funding from the NHMRC will have the opportunity for their NHMRC applications to be considered by the VNI.

For the 2010 NHMRC Project Funding Round, it is anticipated that applicants will be able to pre-select if they would like their application to be automatically considered by the VNI if they are unsuccessful in the NHMRC funding round.

Cooperation with the NHMRC will allow the VNI to take advantage of the NHMRC's considerable expertise. Moreover, one application process will minimise the amount of time researchers spend completing applications and maximise their time completing valuable neurotrauma research.

The VNI looks forward to the next phase of this process.

Researchers involved in applications to the 2009 NHMRC Project and Partnership Project funding rounds should note:

- Research Admin Officers (RAO) have been sent a notification of the opportunity for unsuccessful applications to be considered by the VNI. They are required to respond to the notification by 16 November 2009. We encourage you to confirm with your RAO that they have responded to the NHMRC if you have a project that you would like considered by the VNI.

- Applications of those who respond "yes" will be forwarded to the VNI by the end of November 2009

- The VNI intends to publicly announce outcomes by February 2010.
