Apply for Funding

The VNI accepts applications for funding during its advertised funding rounds. Applications are not considered outside of an advertised funding round.

The VNI has undertaken five rounds of funding.

Round 5:  The fifth round of VNI funding again focused on capacity building in neurotrauma research by offering Fellowships and Skill Development Awards. VNI was pleased to offer a second year of fellowships to commence in 2009 and applications closed 13 May 2008.  Applications for the Skill Development Awards closed 14 August 2008.

Round 4: The fourth VNI funding round was advertised in February 2008.  This funding round requested a call for programs of research to be conducted in highly targeted areas.  The purpose of the program approach was to promote multidisciplinary research effort and to encourage Victorian researchers to collaborate with their national and international colleagues.

Round 3: The third funding round was announced in August 2007.  This funding round aimed to develop research capacity within the field of neurotrauma through Fellowships and Skill Development Award opportunities.

Round 2: The second funding round was announced in November 2006 with an overwhelming response from the Victorian and Australian neurotrauma research sector.  This funding round consisted of a more targeted call for applications within four identified priority areas.

Round 1: The first funding round announced in December 2005 resulted in a commitment of $15.6 million towards twenty-two research projects. This funding round consisted of an open call for applications in the broad area of neurotrauma research.  A further $700,000 has also been committed to fund two targeted research initiatives.
