Professor Peter Reilly

Professor Peter Reilly is a Clinical Professor in Neurosurgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide. He is active in research with the Head Injury Research Group at the University of Adelaide. He was appointed to his current position in 2004 and was the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital to 2005 and member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal since 2006.

Peter has held numerous appointments including: President of the International Neurotrauma Society from 2004 to 2006; member of the Scientific Advisory Committees of the International Neurotrauma Society and the Asia Oceania Neurotrauma Society; Council of the of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons from 1994 to 1997 representing the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia; Chairman of the Board of Neurosurgery from 1991 – 1994; President of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia from 1996 to 1998; Senior Examiner in Neurosurgery to 2005; Past Chairman of the State Trauma Committee of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons; and he is a Fellow and past examiner in the Faculty of Pain Medicine.

Peter has published particularly in the field of neurotrauma, including co-editor and co-author of several neurosurgical texts. Peter was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia in 2002 for contributions to neurotrauma research and treatment and neurosurgical education.
